the mother-daughter combine launched "Sakhi by Chandras" as a new brand in 2005 in Bangalore.

Saree Blouse :The Classic style Indian Saree blouse is a form fitting top and is worn with the saree. The blouse is essentially is midriff baring blouse. One can explore various unique designs and styles of sleeve like- sleeveless, half sleeves, three fourth sleeves or full sleeves and also try various neck options like- Square, Deep U, boat neck, V- Neck to name a few. Sakhi has experimented with the modest Indian blouse and created modern designs in this traditional format.
Petticoat :A petticoat or underskirt is a layer of clothing worn by women underneath the saree. The petticoat is a separate garment hanging from the waist. Saree petticoats must match the color of the saree and are usually made of comfortable cotton fabric, new additions are in san-Crepe, lycra and others. Special to Sakhi is Hakoba petticoats and Cut work embroidered petticoats in various colours.
Pallu :The fanciest patterned end or loose end of the saree that falls over ones left shoulder onto the back of the body so that the design is fully appreciated. The pallu normally is 1 meter in length and can be either neatly pleated or left loose with one end secured by safety pin.
Fall :Saree Falls is an inner cotton lining used to protect the lower end of the saree.
Pico/Edging :Edging of sarees is the final touch that gives it a smooth end. For materials like Chiffon silk, Crepe silk, Georgette, Organza Silk, Tussar Silk we recommend- Pico Edge and for silks like Kanchivaram silk and other silks special tassels are created at the egde.
Sakhi Finishing Package :This package entails custom tailoring of the saree blouse (including the lining fabric) and matching petticoat tailored to match customer's exact measurements. The saree fall application and pico edge finishing are also part of the same package. Once the order is complete Sakhi sends a detailed measurement form which needs to be filled up by the customer. The package ensures you a ready to wear product- the complete Indian Saree with matching Saree Blouse and petticoat.

What is a Saree Finishing Package?
To get the best out of your new saree, you normally carry out a number of chores after you purchase the saree.
You need to run to a tailor to stitch a matching blouse, petticoat of matching color, fix the saree fall and finish pico edge before you enjoy your new saree.
Sakhi's "Saree Finishing Package" takes care of all these for you.
It entails custom tailoring of the saree including the thinning fabric.
The package also includes a custom made matching petticoat as per your measurements.
The saree fall application and pico edge finishing are also included.
We request the customer to provide us the detailed measurements in the prescribed format and we take care of all using expert tailors.
Alternately you can also mail us a sample blouse with a note on any changes to the size and style.
Your blouse will be returned to you with your new dress. We also keep a record of your size/style details for future orders.

What are the standard dimensions of a saree?
The saree is 5.5 Mtrs in length and 1 Mtr in height and is normally accompanied by a blouse piece, measuring 80 Cms.
